Anderev posted this CNNMoney.com link on the TNI mailing list. Apparently Microsoft is (still) looking to sue Linux distributors and Linux users. I’m hesitant to post this though because in so doing, I’m sure I’m violating numerous Microsoft patents.
Here’s to hoping Microsoft sues a number of open-source distributors with the same results as SCO.

Honestly, I’m afraid to even type anymore.

This is the same story that Microsoft has been telling for years. This time it’s got a bit of a twist but it’s still the same story.
I can’t see Microsoft suing anyone over Linux. The retaliation would be too great. There are too many companies with a vested interest in Linux that have their own patent portfolios (IBM, Red Hat, Oracle, etc.) If Microsoft sues any Linux distributor over patents, it would only be a short time before a number of other large companies would retaliate.
This is just Microsoft fear mongering.
Of course, this just underlines the point that software patents are stupid. Write your representatives in congress today.

Well that was a scare but it looks like we can rest easy now. A Microsoft exec has promised that Microsoft won’t sue Linux users. http://www.informationweek.com/news/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=199501831
Whew! Don’t I feel relieved.
